The pain for the Liverpool striker and his family has finally ended with the release of Luis Manuel Diaz, the father of Luis Diaz. He was abducted in Colombia.

The Liverpool player and his family are relieved that Luis Diaz’s father has finally been freed from captivity.

The 58-year-old was taken from the jungle where he was being kept captive by helicopter, and he is currently in the safe custody of a United Nations committee.

After his mother was swiftly set free, Diaz’s parents were abducted at the end of the previous month. However, the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN), the group holding Diaz captive, has promised to release him, but the process has taken longer than anticipated.

Earlier this week, it was verified that the Perija Mountains, which border Colombia with Venezuela, were the location where the search for Diaz Sr. had been concentrated. Soldiers and police had been instructed to leave the region. The Colombian Army, in charge of the search, declared that “we can state that the area in question is free of any type of offensive operation” after withdrawing to Barrancas, the location of Diaz Sr’s kidnapping.

“All the guarantees and conditions are being offered so Mr. Diaz can recover his freedom in the next few hours,” the military declared. And it’s now official—a chopper has been brought out to the adjacent Valledupar airport to pick up Diaz Sr.—that he has been allowed go in order to be with his family.

The Anfield star Diaz, who was granted compassionate leave by the Reds prior to returning to training last week, has gone through nearly two weeks of agony. He performed valiantly on Saturday against Luton, netting the equaliser for Liverpool in injury time to ensure a 1-1 draw.

Following the match, Klopp remarked, “Wonderful moment, but it doesn’t alter the circumstances.
The most crucial thing is that his father be freed. It’s amazing that he desired to be present. That’s it; it’s a very significant objective for us and a very meaningful and emotional goal for him.”
