In preparation for the Reds’ Europa League trip to Toulouse, Klopp might try to rotate his team.
After controlling the majority of the match, Liverpool will be disappointed that they were unable to pull off a victory at Luton Town last time out. However, Luis Diaz’s goal saved Liverpool’s collective blushes with a last-minute equaliser, denying the hosts just their second Premier League victory of the year and securing a 1-1 draw for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Darwin Nunez’s individual effort was just one of several on the evening that would have left Kenilworth Road’s away supporters deeply disappointed. The Uruguayan striker failed to capitalise on any of his numerous opportunities, and Diaz came to the rescue by showing Liverpool’s misfiring number nine how to be clinical in front of goal.
The former Benfica player might not start for Liverpool against Toulouse in the Europa League as a result, with Cody Gakpo, who hasn’t played much for the Reds lately, waiting in the wings.
Nunez’s performance this year
Former Tottenham striker and football pundit Gary Lineker claimed that Nunez had all the makings of a “massive goalscorer” in an interview with The Rest Is Football podcast. However, Nunez’s debut season in English football was uneven last year, and he is only displaying intermittently good play for Liverpool this season.

Despite only managing one goal in his ten Premier League games this season, the imposing 6′ 2″ menace has scored four goals. Nevertheless, in his last four Reds uniform appearances, the 24-year-old has managed to leave the Hatters goalless. This was the case even though Klopp’s team had a total of 24 shots throughout the game, with Liverpool’s number nine managing just nine shots on goal according to Sofascore.
Nunez’s luck was not on his side; he missed one chance to score and Luton’s bodies stopped two more of his attempts.
While Thomas Kaminski did a fantastic job in the Luton goal to stop waves of Liverpool attacks, he was wasteful with two of his other shots in the match, skewing three of them wide.
Per Sofascore, Nunez would also mishandle the ball a startling fifteen times, providing the home team, who was the underdog, a way into the game.
