Liverpool must concentrate on fortifying their defence in the winter after sufficiently bolstering the midfield during the summer transfer window.
The Reds have been linked to several good central defenders, but Goncalo Inacio’s name has been in the news a lot lately.
Liverpool needs to reach a deal for £52.3 million, or 60 million euros, in order to trigger Inacio’s release clause and complete his signing.
One of Sporting CP’s best players, the Portuguese international is not one to be sold during the January transfer window, according to manager Ruben Amorin.
Even so, the coach knows he won’t have any control if potential suitors like Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool decide to pay the £52.3 million exit clause.
The 38-year-old manager said:
“They have to leave if they pay the release clause; otherwise, nobody will leave.”
Liverpool’s lacklustre defence was the primary cause of their failure to qualify for the Champions League, and they must find a solution this season if they hope to contend for the Premier League championship.
The Reds might have had fewer points on the board if it weren’t for the incredible play of Brazilian custodian Alisson Becker.
Tell us who Liverpool should sign in January to bolster the defence. Is Klopp wise to spend £52.3 million to entice Goncalo Inacio?
