Manchester United’s most promising young player, Kobbie Mainoo, is being targeted by rivals Manchester City.
- City wants Mainoo of United.
- Attempted to entice the potential earlier
- Teens said to have a unique gift
AHEAD OF TIME? According to FourFourTwo, the treble-winning team from the previous campaign is eager to entice the 18-year-old, who is thought to be United’s best developing potential, across the city. United supporters will be alarmed by the prospect of losing a homegrown talent to their fierce rivals, as the Red Devils’ transfer policy is utterly misguided.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Mainoo is a highly respected player at Old Trafford who has recovered from a preseason injury that had him on the outside of a first-team roster that is severely lacking in dynamic midfield players. The interest in the city is not new. Although they have made multiple attempts to entice the talented midfield player over the years, as noted by journalist Steven Railston, United is not very concerned by their rival’s advances because they have a long-term contract in place that expires in 2027.
UP NEXT FOR UNITED AND MAINOO? When United travels to Fulham on Saturday in search of a much-needed victory, Mainoo may play for the first time this season.
