The Reds will host the Hammers at Anfield for the second time this season in the quarterfinals.
The League (also known as the EFL or the Carabao) Cup quarterfinals are scheduled for the week of December 18. Liverpool supporters will be looking forward to a home matchup against West Ham when the competition returns in about six weeks.
The Round of 16 ties concluded on Wednesday have resulted in a draw for the next round. While it is not the easiest or toughest draw for the Reds, the fact that they will play at Anfield against the 9th-place Hammers will make Jürgen Klopp’s team the obvious favourites.
The other draws match the 16th-place team in League One with the 10th-place team in The Premier League between Everton at home against Fulham, Chelsea at home against Newcastle, and Port Vale at home against Middlesbrough.
Newcastle, who are currently second-choice to win the championship behind the Reds, should be the ones to complain. After defeating Manchester City and United in the previous two rounds, they were awarded a trip to Stamford Bridge.
While the other three games—including Everton’s, which is also at home and forces the split—are anticipated to be played on the 19th, Liverpool’s game against West Ham has been provisionally scheduled for Wednesday, the 20th.
