Dakoda Shepley, an offensive lineman from Canada, has joined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.

The 28-year-old was dismissed by the Indianapolis Colts towards the end of training camp after attending training camp earlier this year. Before Tuesday, he was still a free agent.

In 2022, the six-foot-five, 317-pound blocker participated in four games for the Cowboys, totaling thirty snaps. After the Seattle Seahawks’ training camp ended, he was waived and signed with the team.

Shepley was grabbed off waivers by the San Francisco 49ers and played the entire 2021 season with the Seattle Seahawks. During his eight games in the team’s uniform, he saw no offensive snaps.

The University of British Columbia product was called up from the practice squad in Week 14 and made his NFL debut with the 49ers in 2020. He dressed for the final three San Francisco games of the season.

In the 2018 CFL Draft, Shepley was selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the first round. Following a stint with the New York Jets, he signed with the team in March 2019. That season, he started 14 games at right guard and was named the team’s Most Outstanding Rookie.

In August 2020, the Windsor, Ontario native chose to forgo his CFL contract in order to pursue a career in the NFL, inking a one-year contract with the 49ers. Since then, his Riders contract has expired, giving him the freedom to sign with any CFL team should he decide to move back north.

Dallas has a 5-2 record and is presently ranked second in the NFC East.
