Dominik Szoboszlai is a new acquisition for Liverpool, and assistant manager Pep Lijnders has praised him, saying the midfielder’s talkative ambition demonstrates his ‘Scouse mentality’.

Szoboszlai joined Anfield during the summer transfer window for £60 million from RB Leipzig, and he has made an immediate impact.

The midfielder’s hard running, passing range, and ability to score amazing goals have made him a fan favourite who has even topped the club’s shirt sales statistics.

Fans are happy with the 22-year-old’s degree of confidence that he has displayed. Recently, when asked what he wanted to achieve at Liverpool, Szoboszlai said, “I want to win everything.”

Prior to Liverpool’s match against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup final 16, Lijnders expressed his respect for the drive of the team’s new number eight, Jordan Henderson.

“There’s nothing wrong with Dom? He just states it “Lijnders remarked.

“To express it, I believe it’s also a Scouse mentality. They have dreams, and because that’s what they’re saying, [who am I] to stop them? We should pursue our ambitions and accomplish the seemingly impossible.

“What’s most important with Dom, you see on the pitch what he does, he plays the last pass, for example this week, and Mo scores the goal.”

Lijnders added, “But for me it’s about that you can speak and you can say, but you have to show, not just the game, but you have to show on the training pitch.” Lijnders also challenged Szoboszlai to maintain his mentality when things get worse in the winter.

“Not just the training pitch here at Kirkby on a blustery, wet day when it’s chilly.

“So far it’s not November, December and January so he doesn’t know yet, but what I see now is that Dom has all of this.”

After providing his first two assists for his new team in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, Szoboszlai has only scored twice in his 14 Reds appearances.
