Pep Lijnders provided us with updates on several subjects during a press conference held in advance of Liverpool’s League Cup matchup with Bournemouth.

Story: Diaz will remain in Merseyside

After being abducted in Barrancas, Luis Diaz’s father is still missing, so it seems he has decided not to go to Colombia just yet.

According to Colombian publication Semana, Diaz has “every intention of being in the country,” but is delaying travel because of “security issues.”

With the words, “It’s not for me sitting here to tell the whole world what we are doing, or for Lucho,” the assistant manager declined to provide any information.

“As long as we are certain that we are acting in his best interests.”

In an attempt to find Diaz Sr., the military and police are offering a reward of 200 million pesos, or about £40,000, for information leading to his location.

We all wish for his prompt and safe return.

Three takeaways from Lijnders’ press briefing

In light of his family situation, Lijnders stated that Diaz had the support of the “whole club” and fans.

Thiago “will take time” to recover, but he may soon “guide” Liverpool’s new midfield, the assistant manager continued.

Though it’s unclear how well that will go over in certain online circles, Lijnders congratulated the owners for signing Ryan Gravenberch this summer with a hint of irony.

Current News for Liverpool FC

According to Lijnders, Ben Doak trained on Monday for the first time since his injury, though it wasn’t “full” training.

Stefan Bajcetic has only played 72 minutes this season and is still listed as “unavailable.”

Trent Kone-Doherty, a 17-year-old winger who describes himself as “fearless,” has signed his first professional deal with Liverpool.
