The young player Jarell Quansah of Liverpool has been reflecting on his season opener with the Reds.

Due to his strong performance in the summer friendlies, Quansah has quickly become a fixture in Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.

Earlier in the season, the 20-year-old made his senior debut against Newcastle United after making an impact on Klopp with those pre-season performances.

Darwin Nunez scored two goals in the dying minutes to give 10-man Liverpool a 2-1 victory, making it a memorable contest. In an interview with liverpoolfc.com, Quansah reflects on that day and describes the emotion as “crazy.”

The centre back comments, “It’s crazy, you really can’t put it into words.”

“For my family, there are so many happy people who have seen me since I was a small child, taken me to training on half-days, and worked extra hours for me. It’s just an overwhelming feeling.”

“So, just being able to pay my family with all that sort of love and what they have done for me was probably the best feeling. After making my debut, that was the best feeling that I could enjoy myself.”

Quansah remembers her wild debut

Few supporters would have predicted Quansah’s arrival and his immediate influence before the summer.

The academy defender has a history of being seen as a future option. However, following a half-season loan in League One the previous year, that day didn’t seem particularly near.

The preseason followed. Quansah demonstrated during the games played in Germany and the Far East that he is prepared to join Liverpool’s first team.

Quansah’s life must have been somewhat of a blur from that point on. Five further outings, including his first Premier League start and his first appearance in Europe, have come since his Newcastle curtain-raiser.

The England U21 international has so far overcome every obstacle that has been placed in his path.

Tomorrow is another Carabao Cup match, this one away at Bournemouth, and it appears Quansah will make his fourth start of the year.

Whether this is the beginning of a permanent stay in Klopp’s senior team is still to be determined.

So far though, the signs are there that this season could yet get even crazier for Quansah.
