With no difficulty at Anfield, Liverpool defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 to keep their perfect home record this season.
Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Mo Salah, the starting front three, were all on target, but Cody Gakpo’s stoppage time goal was disallowed after a VAR review.
Dominik Szoboszlai, who added two assists and gave the Kop a performance that Neil Jones called a “masterclass,” was undoubtedly the main architect of today’s outcome.
The Hungarian undoubtedly passed the vision test, and his match statistics (seen on Sofascore) further highlight the excellent performance he put in.
He was quite effective with the ball, winning four duels from midfield and making one interception. Of his 81 passes, he found a teammate in 75% of them.
Szoboszlai made a team-high four crucial passes, three accurate crosses, three successful long balls, and one on-target shot of his own. He also completed three of his four dribbles.
These numbers add to an impressive display in which he started the play that resulted in Nunez’s goal and played the deep pass that sufficiently confused Matt Turner to set Salah up for an easy finish.
That makes sense given that the 22-year-old was outstanding today and that Liverpool supporters have taken a quick fancy to him.
