Darwin Nunez received high marks from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for his performance against Toulouse last night.

The Uruguayan international appears to have at last adapted to life in England. He scored another goal yesterday, and he looks much better than he did the previous campaign. The manager of Liverpool, Klopp, was thrilled with his performance.

Darwin Nunez of Liverpool is praised by Jurgen Klopp.
Darwin Nunez was acquired by Liverpool from Benfica last year for an astounding £85 million (Sky Sports).

Though the two strikers had quite different seasons, the 24-year-old was seen as Jurgen Klopp’s answer to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City signing Erling Haaland.

While Nunez received a lot of criticism despite scoring 15 goals across all competitions, Haaland set numerous records and guided City to the triple crown.

But Nunez appears to be a totally different player this season. Even if he still has his moments, such as the “laughable” miss against Toulouse the other night, he appears to be far more dangerous than he was this season.

In his press conference following his performance in the Europa League last night, Klopp extolled his qualities.

According to Liverpoolfc.com, he said, “He played incredible.” In all honesty, at this point, I could care less if he makes the basket because everything that came before was so persuasive and obvious. It was a fantastic situation the way he past the goalie and took the defender away.

“He had a great performance. His goal, the situations he found himself in, his ability to drop into midfield and stay on the ball—all of these things. There were many positive things, and he’s in a good place right now, which is obviously significant to us.

“Extremely happy for him regarding the performance. Yes, it’s a little comedic that the ball doesn’t go in, but it’s still impressive that Ryan finished it. He’s a happy boy or guy right now, and you can see it every day, as I stated before the game. We now need to ensure that it continues to be that way.”

Nunez might surpass 20 goals in this campaign.
You would think a player from the Portuguese league would receive some recognition if he moved to England and scored 15 goals in his first season.

Nunez, though, received a lot of flak for his work in the previous season. He was entitled to some justification, but he also needed some time to adjust.

In just six games this season, the Uruguayan international has already netted five goals. With more than 35 games remaining in all competitions this term, we firmly believe he might surpass the 20-goal threshold.

Liverpool has a very good chance of winning the Premier League title if it occurs.
