LAKE City, Utah – During the first seven weeks of the 2023 NFL season, Puka Nacua, a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams and a former BYU Cougar, won Pepsi Zero Rookie of the Week three times.

Third Rookie of the Week goes to Puka Nacua.

Nacua and the Rams lost against the Pittsburgh Steelers 24–17 in Week 7. Nacua recorded a game-high eight receptions for 154 yards during the contest, including a spectacular sideline catch.

Four days subsequent to the match, Nacua won his third Rookie of the Week title.

Because of his performance in Weeks 2 and 4 of the season, the Orem High and BYU product was previously chosen the winner of the award.

Nacua has amassed incredible numbers of catches in his first seven NFL games. With 58 receptions, he has gained 752 yards and two touchdowns.

According to StatMuse, Nacua is one of just four wide receivers in NFL history to record two 150-yard games while still a rookie.

As of right now, the Rams have a 3-4 record. Next up for Los Angeles is a road game on Sunday, October 29 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX against the Dallas Cowboys.

Concerning Puka Nacua

The native of Provo, Utah, played high school football at Orem High School prior to attending college. Having set numerous state records, he concluded his career with the Tigers.

In 2017 and 2018, Nacua assisted the Tigers in winning consecutive 4A state championships.

The receiver played two seasons for the University of Washington after graduating from high school.

Nacua collected 16 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns in his two years in Seattle.

Nacua went back to Provo after the 2020 season and enrolled at BYU. For the Cougars, he rose to stardom right away.

Nacua caught 43 passes for 805 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. Despite suffering injuries in the previous campaign, Nacua finished 2022 with 48 catches for 625 yards and five touchdowns. In his last season at BYU, he also ran for 209 yards and five touchdowns.

Nacua totaled 91 receptions for 1,430 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver during his time at BYU. With his legs, he contributed 39 carries for 357 yards and five touchdowns.

Nacua was chosen by the Rams in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draught in April with the No. 177 overall selection.
