If Mo Salah, 31, were to depart Liverpool in the near future, one of his West Ham teammates would make a “perfect replacement,” according to Michail Antonio.

Jarrod Bowen has been linked to the Reds in recent weeks and months, but it may be difficult for them to get him given that he recently signed a long-term contract at the London Stadium that lasts until 2030.

That didn’t stop the 26-year-old’s Irons teammate from praising him as a major contender to succeed the Egypt superstar at Anfield in the future.

In an interview with Antonio for the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Antonio described Bowen as a “bagsman. Currently, he is making everything he touches into gold, but hey, it’s going to cost a tonne of money since he just signed a seven-year contract! You must give us all of the money Salah is bringing in for you.

“It won’t be simple to remove him, despite the fact that he is obviously of high calibre, left-footed, and plays on the right side like Salah. It won’t be simple considering the man recently signed a seven-year contract.”

With goals in three of his previous four Premier League games and six in nine matches in the top tier thus far in 2023/24, Bowen has undoubtedly had a solid start to the season (Transfermarkt).

With his 90th-minute winner in the Europa Conference League final earlier this year, the West Ham maestro cemented his place in history and showed the Liverpool management that he had a big-game mindset.

Although a transfer for him in the near future seems very improbable given the long-term contract he signed in east London earlier this month, Anfield chiefs are reportedly interested in players like Leroy Sane and Nico Williams, with the latter poised to become a free agent next summer.

Salah’s position as the team’s right winger will be secured as long as he remains with the Reds, although it’s difficult to rule out the Saudi Pro League making another attempt to sign him in January after having a £150 million deal rejected just a few weeks ago (The Guardian).

Undoubtedly, Liverpool will need to replace the club great at some point, but ideally not anytime soon. If Bowen is still in the form he’s shown recently, it might be worth taking into account whenever that unwelcome moment does occur.
