The most recent update on X by Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos this afternoon strongly implies that Kostas Tsimikas will be thrown into the spotlight on Saturday.
According to the reporter, the 27-year-old fullback is’mentally ready’ to start at left back in the Merseyside Derby in place of the injured Andy Robertson.
During the international break, the former Hull City defender was unsettlingly seen with his arm in a sling after what appeared to be a severe collision with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon.
Liverpool either plays it safe or takes risks.
Fans will understandably be hoping for a speedy recovery from the Scot, as the prospect of a 10-week (at the very least) absence from the pitch looms should the 29-year-old’s shoulder require surgery.
It must be kept in mind that Tsimikas is still a more than realistic alternative for the foreseeable future despite that unsettling prospective component.
There is still some uncertainty as to whether Jurgen Klopp would go for the apparent answer. Online rumours have suggested that Joe Gomez could be moved to the left flank and Jarell Quansah could be pushed out wide.
