Ibrahima Konate, a defender for Liverpool, is among Moussa Diaby’s picks for the best player in the world, along with Neymar.

The French international chose Konate as the guy he would like to have as his strength in a statement to Aston Villa’s official Instagram account. Diaby also mentioned Edinson Cavani.

They are both of a new generation of French athletes who were born in Paris, with Diaby moving this summer for £34 million from Bayer Leverkusen to Unai Emery’s Villa.

The 24-year-old winger has also been a sensation for the Villa Park team, contributing to three assists and two goals in eight Premier League contests.

In fact, Diaby remained silent during Liverpool’s match against the Reds at Anfield earlier this season, so the winger’s appreciation for Konate is a positive indication of how highly regarded the 24-year-old Reds defender is among his international teammates.

The goal for Diaby at Villa Park is to defeat Liverpool and Konate.

The Reds’ 3-0 victory over Villa earlier this season was perhaps their best overall performance of the year, and Diaby will be seeking vengeance when the teams clash at Villa Park.

By the time two teams square up in the Premier League with Liverpool vying for the league title, a lot might be on the line because of the May reverse match.

Although Diaby will need more time to adjust to English football, if early indications are any indication, the Villa winger might rank among the top wingers in the Premier League by May.
