While putting up his ideal Premier League player, Gary Neville maintains that Liverpool custodian Alisson Becker is the best in his position in both the English top flight and the entire world.

The Brazilian international custodian has been outstanding since joining the Reds from AS Roma in the summer of 2018, solidifying his place among the top keepers in Merseyside club history.

Alisson, 31, was referred to Gary Neville as the current world’s finest player in an interview with Sky Sports.

“Hands. I’m going to go for Alisson because I think he’s the best goalkeeper in the league and in the world,” the former Manchester United star said.

Since joining, the Liverpool custodian has played 240 times for the Reds, winning five trophies: the FA Cup, one Champions League, one Carabao Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

Alisson, who helped the Liverpool team win their sixth Champions League championship in 2018, was voted The Best FIFA Goalkeeper in 2019. He also won the Yashin Trophy, the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper, and the UEFA Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season awards in the same year.

He made the FIFA FIFPro World11 in 2019 and 2020, the PFA Team of the Year in 2021–2022, and the Premier League Golden Glove Awards in 2018–19 and 2021–2022.

Alisson, who won the Copa America Golden Glove and was named to the Copa America Team of the Tournament in 2019, has also emerged as a major player for his nation, winning the Globe Soccer Awards for Best Keeper of the Year in 2018 and 2019.

He has also demonstrated his skill at the opposite end of the pitch, receiving the Liverpool Goal of the Season award in 2020–21 for his thunderous header against West Bromwich Albion in the waning seconds of the season to secure victory.

With the victory, they were able to finish third and earn a spot in the Champions League the following season. Alisson also scored, becoming the first custodian in Liverpool’s 129-year history to do so.

In 181 Premier League appearances, he has kept 79 clean sheets, made 433 saves, allowed 153 goals, and helped his team win 122 games while contributing three assists.
