Following his performance against Hungary last night, Liverpool’s Ben Doak received praise from Scotland U21s manager Scot Gemmill.
The teenager, who is considered to be one of the top prospects in the world, scored his first goal ever for the Scotland U21s, and he was excellent. Gemmill, his manager, was really pleased as well.
Scot Gemmill, the manager of Scotland U21, gushes over Ben Doak of Liverpool
For the Scotland U21 team’s match versus Hungary at Fir Park, which many predicted would be highly challenging for the hosts, Ben Doak got the start. The game, however, got off to a hot start for Gemmill’s team.
Thanks to a pair of goals by Kieron Bowie, the young Scots struck twice in the opening seven minutes. Doak then increased their advantage from the spot, putting them in control.
Steve Clarke, the senior squad manager for Scotland, was present yesterday night. The Herald claims that he went to watch Doak the Younger.
At the hour mark, Clarke allegedly left immediately after the Liverpool kid was replaced.
After the match, Gemmill told the publication that “everyone is eager to see Ben improving.
“We all agree he is doing really well and his potential is enormous. We all have a massive responsibility to help him fulfil that potential.
“It is really exciting and he won’t be happy because he feels he could have done better in certain moments tonight but it’s great to see a young player that can excite the fans.”
Doak has enormous talent.
Ben Doak, who is only 17 years old, already participates in Liverpool’s first team.
Although the adolescent is undoubtedly still in his infancy, observing him will make you recognise that he has a tremendous amount of skill and the potential to become a star in the years to come.
Given his performance yesterday, Jurgen Klopp obviously has faith in him, and it won’t surprise us in the least if Clarke soon selects him for the senior team.
Doak should be really pleased with the way he is progressing, and if he can keep it up, we are confident that in a few years he will establish himself as a major player for club and country.
