Sir Kenny Dalglish, a Scottish Liverpool star, spoke about up-and-coming player Ben Doak and his development.
Sir Kenny Dalglish, who has been impressed with Ben Doak’s development since joining Liverpool, says the attention surrounding the 17-year-old must be “controlled.”
The young Scottish prodigy joined Liverpool in March 2022 after leaving Celtic’s academy and paying about $600,000. Being one of the best in his age group, he has now been swiftly integrated into Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup.
His direct attacking skills have stood out despite the fact that he has not scored for the Reds in three competitive games so far in 2023–24. This is true not just at the club level though, as his appearances for Scotland’s Under-21 team have drawn praise.
In talking about Doak’s chances, Liverpool veteran Dalglish—a man who is all too familiar with what it takes to succeed in a Tartan Army or Reds attack—believes that expectations must be controlled.
“He’s only a baby, isn’t he?” The Scotsman was told by the 72-year-old. In just one and a half years, he has accomplished a lot. He won’t be too far from Scotland.
“He was on the bench at Brighton [last weekend] and he came on in the Europa League. If he just handles it properly, he’s got a lot of things going for him. He’s got more going for him than going against him.
