Manu Kone, a top player for Borussia Monchengladbach, was a target for Liverpool before his unfortunate injury this summer.
The 22-year-old had an injury while representing France at the U21 European Championship in the summer, precluding a transfer to Anfield.
If Kone had not sustained an injury, Liverpool would have probably signed him, according to Christian Falk. Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Liverpool was one of the clubs interested in the “big talent.”
The further arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch for Liverpool completed their summer influx.
Before his move to Anfield fell through, Kone reportedly even reached a personal agreement with Liverpool and there was even talk of an offer at the time.
Nothing in the media indicates that Liverpool is considering bringing the French midfielder back, but now that Gravenberch has joined the Reds, he might not be required as much.
Although the Dutch midfielder missed a clear-cut opportunity against Brighton before the Seagulls equalised in Liverpool’s most recent game, he will have had trouble sleeping.
