Three former Liverpool players might be available for Everton’s visit to Anfield.
After the international break, several first-team stars will return, giving Liverpool a boost.
Jurgen Klopp’s team has enjoyed a solid start to the Premier League season and is just three points behind Tottenham and Arsenal, despite having to settle for a draw on Sunday against Brighton.
The Liverpool manager will be eager to have players like Cody Gakpo and Stefan Bajcetic available to him once more because a derby match against Everton is scheduled to take place immediately following the international matches.
Cody Gakpo
After Cody Gakpo departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week wearing a knee brace after being substituted at halftime of that game, there were worries that he might spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.
He missed the game with Brighton due to that injury, but Klopp said there is a “good chance” the Dutchman will be well and available to play against Everton after the break.
“He is already out of the brace, walks normally around, so from all the very, very bad opportunities and possibilities injury-wise, I think he nearly got the best but is still injured,” Klopp remarked.
Possible return date: October 21, 2023, against Everton.
Thiago Alcantara
Due to hip surgery at the end of the previous season, Thiago Alcantara is yet to play in this season.
The midfielder was getting close to playing again, but a few small setbacks have hindered his comeback. Although the Everton game may be scheduled too soon, the Liverpool manager has expressed the expectation that Thiago will be available soon after the international break.
Possible return day: October 26, 2023 against Toulouse
Stefan Bajcetic
In the Europa League match against LASK, Stefan Bajcetic made his long-awaited comeback from injury by starting. A week later, he came off the bench in the Carabao Cup victory against Leicester.
The adolescent has not participated since, according to Klopp, who said that the teenager “felt something else” after making his comeback.
He may be eligible for the Merseyside derby since, like Thiago, it is not thought to be a significant problem.
Possible return date: October 21, 2023, against Everton.
Conor Bradley
Conor Bradley’s stress fracture to his back was made public at the end of August.
Bradley’s status for the remainder of Northern Ireland’s Euro 2024 qualification campaign has been described as “extreme doubt” by manager Michael O’Neill, who also indicated he could miss the team’s final two games in mid-November.
Last week, Klopp provided a more upbeat update, although he was clear that Liverpool would not hurry Bradley back into action.
According to the Liverpool, “Conor is on his way back and is running, but in that age group and with these kinds of injuries you tend to give them rather three weeks more than not enough because it has to do with the body’s growing process and stuff like this,”
Possible date of return: December 2023
