After watching his previous team Liverpool draw with Brighton and Manchester City fall to Arsenal, Michael Owen was speaking.

In Michael Owen’s opinion, Manchester City’s 1-0 loss at Arsenal in the penultimate Premier League match before the second international break of the season would have thrilled Liverpool.

Liverpool will enter the break with a 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, another high-flying team. The Reds quickly took the lead at the Amex Stadium thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah, but they were unable to hang on, and as a result, they fell to fourth place, three points behind joint leaders Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Tottenham defeated Luton Town 1-0 despite playing the entire second half with 10 men, and nearby Arsenal defeated City at the Emirates courtesy to a late winner from Gabriel Martinelli.

It was the first time since December 2018 that Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions, who have won the league crown the previous three years, suffered consecutive Premier League losses. And former Liverpool great Owen thinks the outcome will please his old team.

In response to Premier League productions, Owen stated, “I think it is (a positive outcome). For the remainder of the Premier League, I believe. like Liverpool and even Tottenham, who frequently abstain from cheering on Arsenal.

“But this year, Man City are the squad to beat. Everyone becomes more comradely when you deduct points from them.

“I believe that most neutrals are aware that the Premier League has some strong teams. They had Arsenal winning today because they were focused on the end goal. And they got what they wanted.”

Due to their first league loss to the Gunners since December 2015, City now sits in third place, two points behind their rivals from North London and one point ahead of Liverpool.

Alan Shearer and Gary Neville, two additional experts, have also discussed the title competition. Shearer thinks Liverpool’s defensive weaknesses could cost them, and Neville says the Reds’ lack of “strength and power” in holding midfield may prevent them from establishing a push.
