Thiago Alcantara has experienced another setback in his recovery following hip surgery, according to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp.
The Spaniard had hip surgery near the close of the previous campaign, and it was previously believed that he would be back in action before the start of the new Premier League season. However, he experienced a setback during his recovery, and Klopp has now disclosed that the midfielder has experienced a second recurrence.
Prior to the Brighton & Hove Albion match, he told reporters (via Liverpoolfc.com): “It is really irritating, especially for [Thiago]. He has experienced two minor setbacks in his rehabilitation, enough to remove him from the pitch once more. Though somewhat similar, the injury was obviously not the same.
New injury blow
Thiago was expected to take over the position after Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, two experienced defensive midfielders for Liverpool, left in the summer. The Spaniard has yet to make a comeback to competitive play, though, due to his ongoing hip issues.
According to Klopp’s most recent remarks, Thiago might remain sidelined for a few more weeks. Although Thiago’s availability would have been beneficial because to his great passing and focus, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch can all play in the no. 6 position, so Liverpool shouldn’t be particularly concerned.
It would be fascinating to see if Liverpool, where the 32-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract, will consider giving him a new term in light of his injury problems. Due to his terrible injury history, the club was happy to let Naby Keita move on a free transfer last summer. A significant season is ahead of Thiago. The Reds may consider a replacement if he doesn’t establish himself as a regular starter. They have been observing Andre of Fluminense for some time.
