Who are the Premier League’s top players?
As fans and experts debate who is superior to whom, that is a subject that will polarise opinion around the world.
The unpleasant chore of ranking the top five players in English football at the moment fell to ESPN’s Janusz Michallik, who, as you might expect, made some debatable selections.
As you would have anticipated, Mo Salah made the pundit’s top five, but surprisingly, the £35 million player, who has won the PFA Player of the Year twice, was only placed as the fifth-best player in the Premier League.
The fifth-best is Salah.
Michallik made a judgement about Salah.
Mo Salah is number five; I’ve revised it a few times; it’s not great. He was capable of being far higher. Take a look at Liverpool without him. He contributes to practically every goal Liverpool scores, and in my perspective, he is still outstanding with this younger team as well, Michallik added.
Harsh
Of course, everyone has the right to their own beliefs, but we can’t help but feel that Salah is being treated unfairly in this situation.
The Egyptian is currently listed as the fifth-best player in the league, which is a massive insult considering that he is perhaps the greatest player in Premier League history.
The winger is performing at his absolute best this year. He is directly engaged in everything that Liverpool is doing well right now, and he is equally adept at setting up goals as he is at scoring them.
Erling Haaland is the only player in the Premier League right now, in our opinion, who can compete with Salah as a complete attacker.
