Last night at Anfield, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was the last player off the pitch.

Szoboszlai has undoubtedly been Liverpool’s best player so far in 2023–24. And even though the Hungarian came off the bench to open Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Leicester City, he still managed to steal the show.

Szoboszlai scored a spectacular goal to give the Reds an advantage they never lost, and the Liverpool ECHO saw him performing a victory lap after the game.

They say that as Anfield celebrated the 3-1 victory, the 22-year-old “saluted all four corners of the crowd.”

Szoboszlai, who thanked the fans and “swallowed the occasion,” reportedly entered the field as the last player. There is a new hero at Anfield, and he has only just begun.

Anfield is saluted by Szoboszlai
The fact that Szoboszlai’s debut at Liverpool seems to be coming to him so easily is possibly its best feature.

Jurgen Klopp even acknowledged being shocked at how quickly the 22-year-old has developed into such a crucial player following his rocket last night.

However, it seems as though Szoboszlai himself is not at all surprised. In no way.

Instead, the Hungary captain appears to be aware that this is the moment for which he has been training his entire life.

But that doesn’t imply he’s haughty. It’s true that Liverpool’s No. 8 gives off the impression of being a very self-assured young man. However, it is also clear why he is leading his nation at such a young age. Szoboszlai is responsible and kind to his teammates.

The former RB Leipzig player doesn’t seem like he’ll get too excited. He is obviously absolutely adoring the praise of his new fans, though, at the same time.

Even though it’s still early, it’s already obvious that they adore him just as much. Let’s hope for a repeat of these events on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
