Although Liverpool made four acquisitions, the assistant manager prefers one transaction.

Caoimhin Kelleher’s retention by Liverpol, in Pep Lijnders’ opinion, represents their best summertime business.

Despite being Alisson Becker’s clear second choice, the Reds kept the goalkeeper on staff. Kelleher played just once so far this season, compared to just four times last year.

Stephen Kenny, manager of the Republic of Ireland, asserted that Kelleher was likely to leave Anfield during the transfer window in search of a more consistent playing schedule. However, he remained at Liverpool and will take the field tonight against Leicester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. And even though the Reds spent about £150 million on Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch, Lijnders considers Kelleher staying in Merseyside to be the club’s most impressive move.

The assistant manager of Liverpool stated on the team’s website:

“I think the best signing of the season is Caoimhin, that he stayed with us. For me he is a world-class goalie and he needs games and he will get games.

”And I think Ali is massive in this, in how Caoimhin developed, and he deserves a big, big compliment in terms of Caoimhin’s development. Alisson was massive in this. Yeah, you have a world-class goalie who can play in each Premier League team, in my opinion.”
