Following the departure of Hansi Flick, Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, was heavily rumored to take over as the new manager of Germany.
There are no longer any rumors that Jurgen Klopp would be enticed to leave Liverpool because Julian Nagelsmann is allegedly set to be named the new manager of Germany.
After Hansi Flick was fired as the manager of his native nation following a friendly loss to Japan during the most recent international break, Klopp was mentioned as a potential candidate for the open managerial role.
The Reds’ manager’s agent attempted to dispel rumors that his client was considering leaving for a role in national coaching, telling Sportschau that “Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and is not available for the national coaching position.”
Assuming he accepts the job, Nagelsmann now appears to be the man in charge of Die Mannschaft at the European Championship in 2019.
The 36-year-old will be paid around €4 million (£3.45 million) up until the Euros for taking on this position, according to the German outlet BILD.
Nagelsmann had previously led Bayern, but the Bundesliga powerhouses fired him at the end of March after a disappointing campaign by the club’s high standards. Thomas Tuchel, an ex-Chelsea manager, took his position and is still in charge.
Nagelsmann led RB Leipzig for two years and Hoffenheim for three years before this. He competed against Liverpool with both teams in the Champions League, losing both times as the Reds defeated Leipzig in the round of 16 in 2020–21 and Hoffenheim in a two-leg play-off match in 2017–18.
