Former Alabama linebacker Jamey Mosley is taking the next major step in his coaching career, as he has been hired as Stanford’s new defensive line coach. The move marks a significant milestone for Mosley, who has steadily climbed the coaching ranks and now earns his first full defensive line coordinator role at the Power Five level.

Mosley had been a member of Alabama’s coaching staff since 2022, gaining valuable experience inside one of college football’s most demanding and successful programs. His time in Tuscaloosa placed him in the heart of a championship-driven culture, where attention to detail, player development, and accountability are non-negotiable.

He began his coaching journey at Alabama as a graduate assistant, where he quickly earned respect for his football IQ and work ethic. Mosley was later elevated to an analyst role, expanding his responsibilities to include film breakdown, opponent tendencies, and practice planning — a foundation that prepared him for on-field coaching duties.

Over the last two seasons, Mosley served as an on-field assistant for the Crimson Tide, working closely with veteran defensive line coach Freddie Roach. In that role, Mosley helped develop Alabama’s defensive front, contributing to technique refinement, rotation management, and game-week preparation against elite SEC competition.

Those close to the program credit Mosley with strong relationships in the locker room and a teaching style that resonated with players. Learning under Roach and within Alabama’s defensive system gave Mosley firsthand exposure to elite-level trench play, something Stanford is eager to bring to its defensive rebuild.

For Stanford, the hire represents a forward-thinking move — bringing in a young, ascending coach with SEC pedigree and hands-on development experience. For Alabama, it’s another example of the program continuing to serve as a launching pad for the next generation of college football coaches. 🏈🔥
