Following the end of the Lakers’ late-season losing run, supporters react.

The Lakers were desperate for a victory going into their game against the Grizzlies on Friday, with just two games remaining in the season. The Lakers were able to hold off the Grizzlies and win 123–120, putting them in a position to finish as high as eighth in the West, despite their strong resistance that resulted in a dogfight in the second half.

Anthony Davis was Los Angeles’ man of the hour once more. With 36 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks, he recorded a double-double in the game, while the King finished with 37 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 65% of the shot. One of the many reasons the Lakers are so dangerous right now is Davis, who has been playing brilliantly during the season’s final stretch.

More than anything, Lakers fans on X were feeling relieved. Given how close the standings are right now, a loss may have a significant impact on the postseason. It is therefore concerning, to put it mildly, that the Lakers are letting the game become this close and are exerting such little effort this late in the season.

Even if a few supporters voiced confidence following the victory, a larger number expressed dissatisfaction with the Lakers’ postseason performance. Although the squad has been rather strong during the past ten games, its weaknesses have been more apparent, and most supporters concur that there are reasons for concern.

The Lakers’ season-ending matchup with the Pelicans on Sunday might be their most important one yet. They might have the advantage they need to avoid having to win two play-in games away from home if they can grab a victory against New Orleans.

In full playoff mode are the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers are only responsible for their current predicament after a volatile season. The Lakers may have gained a couple more victories, which would have changed their standing in the West, if they had caught on sooner.

But the Lakers can’t turn back now, and after the incredible run to the West Finals last year, Anthony Davis stated himself that he isn’t too concerned about seeding.

The Lakers’ actual work can now begin as the postseason approaches, and it will require a tremendous effort to overcome the odds against them.

Even if they make it to the opening round, they’ll play one of two formidable teams with plenty of size on the interior: the Denver Nuggets or the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Many supporters and analysts are prepared to write off the Purple and Gold this season because they are now ranked 10th in the West, but they have previously demonstrated their ability, and tonight served as another reminder of why they should never be completely written off.
