Is Joel Embiid expected to play Tuesday night for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Detroit Pistons?
The Philadelphia 76ers have a long list of injuries as the 2023–2024 NBA regular season enters its penultimate week.
The story centers on All-Star big man Joel Embiid, who is gradually making his way back into the Sixers lineup after missing many months of play due to a meniscus injury.
The Sixers had Embiid listed as questionable going into their game against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Embiid has been dubious for each game since making his comeback against the Oklahoma City Thunder a week ago.
Embiid was cleared to play in the games against the Thunder, Miami Heat, and Memphis Grizzlies. The big guy played 28 minutes a night on average during those three games. He grabbed six rebounds each game in addition to scoring 28 points. At that time, the Sixers were unbeaten.
Embiid was doubtful going into the Sixers’ Sunday game against the San Antonio Spurs, but he was not given the opportunity to play. He was ruled out for the first time since March 31.
After two overtimes, the Sixers managed to win in San Antonio even though they were without Joel Embiid for the game. On Tuesday, they take on Detroit in an attempt to win six straight games.
