ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that center Joel Embiid of the Sixers is likely to make his comeback against the Thunder on Tuesday.
After undergoing knee surgery, Embiid will be making his first appearance since January 30.
Earlier today, his status from out for Tuesday’s game was changed to questionable. Over the past week, Embiid has been able to take part in multiple five-on-five scrimmages without experiencing any negative affects on his left knee.
Since Jonathan Kuminga’s leg injury during a Golden State game on January 30, the reigning MVP has been out of the game. After surgery on February 6, the prognosis for his recovery was one to two months.
Embiid was putting up impressive numbers before he was hurt: 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals. Barring an injury, his return offers Philadelphia fresh optimism for a postseason push.
The Sixers are now in eighth position in the Eastern Conference standings without him. The Sixers might avoid the play-in tournament if they can finish two and a half games behind Indiana for the sixth position.
