Carson Wentz, the former quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, has moved.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Wentz will be signing a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles originally chose the 31-year-old Wentz with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Before Jalen Hurts stole his starting position and he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, he spent six seasons as a player for the Birds.
Wentz was traded to the Washington Commanders by the Colts after one poor season in Indianapolis. There, he was benched in favor of Taylor Heinicke and released following the 2022 campaign.
He signed with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10 of last fall, and that was his most recent stop. Against the San Francisco 49ers, he ultimately started LA’s final regular-season game and completed 17 of 24 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he gained 56 yards and a touchdown.
Wentz has completed 62.7% of his passes for 22,292 yards and 153 touchdowns with 67 interceptions through eight NFL seasons.
He will support quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a tough Chiefs squad that is going for their third straight Super Bowl ring.
