The quarterback room of the Pittsburgh Steelers is still growing.

On Monday, Pittsburgh revealed that they have signed veteran free agent Kyle Allen. The 28-year-old quarterback will sign a one-year contract with the Steelers.

Allen has been a journeyman for six years. After Carolina (where Allen started in 2019 after Cam Newton was injured), Washington, Houston, and Buffalo, the Steelers are now his fifth team of all time. Allen played with the Bills as Josh Allen’s backup during the previous season.

After acquiring Justin Fields through a trade and adding Russell Wilson this offseason, the Steelers clearly have a rather full depth chart. Fields might play a respectable part in addition to Wilson, who is anticipated to start. Allen, their anticipated QB3, will be another seasoned player in the meantime.
