Another player could assist in filling the designated hitter position for the New York Mets.

Even so, New York might decide against investing a lot of money in a slugger. J.D. Martinez is one player that has been connected to the Mets on several occasions. Although he is among the best offensive players available, his lack of defensive upside would probably mean that if the Mets signed him, he would be the team’s everyday designated hitter

The Mets have announced that rookie slugger Mark Vientos will have a longer look at being a member of the team and probably will play some designated hitter. Vientos would lose a lot of at-bats if the Mets signed Martinez.

Even though the team intends to give Vientos more of an opportunity, they still ought to sign another player.

Six-time All-Star and 2010 National League Most Valuable Player Joey Votto is one player who would make sense.

Despite being forty years old, Votto is searching for a new opportunity for the 2024 campaign. Someone like him could primarily play the bench and occasionally take at-bats as the designated hitter if the Mets were to acquire him.

With 356 home runs and a career batting average of.294 after an incredibly successful career. Votto would be the ideal addition to the New York team on a modest contract, someone who could help guide some of the team’s younger players. Votto does still have some pop in his bat, as evidenced by the 14 home runs he blasted in just 65 games the previous season.
