LeBron James chose to comment after he was accused of purposely showing up the Lakers head coach during a recent game. Many basketball fans believe that there is tension between James and Darvin Ham.
Since Darvin Ham was appointed by the Los Angeles Lakers to replace Frank Vogel before the 2022–2023 season began, he has had the opportunity to coach one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Clearly, there are many benefits associated with this position.
There aren’t many people out there who come close to matching the amount of basketball knowledge LeBron James has amassed over the course of a career that’s currently in its 21st season, so while Ham has plenty of coaching (and playing) experience under his belt, he runs the risk of butting heads with his best player if they don’t see eye-to-eye.
This season, the Lakers have been the epitome of mediocrity, and a lot of fans have been increasingly irate with Ham because of his team’s lackluster play.
Many of those critics also believe that there is a growing rift between LeBron and the head coach. James recently created some controversy when he appeared to go rogue by intentionally fouling the court and then calling a timeout to replace himself late in the game against the Trail Blazers.
LeBron, however, refuted the story by commenting on an Instagram post that included the disputed footage and stating that, while he was shooting free throws before the action in issue, he was only following Ham’s instructions.
That should end that, but I have a feeling that people will eventually read too much into anything else and claim it proves LeBron and Ham are eternal rivals with a hidden hatred that is slowly destroying the Lakers from the inside out.
