Tom Brady and Peyton Manning on the hype train that is Christian McCaffrey.

Re-entering the top five in NFL MVP odds, Christian McCaffrey posted a three-touchdown performance against the Arizona Cardinals. With 18 touches for 115 rushing yards and a score as well as five catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns, the San Francisco 49ers running back had his sixth 100-yard game. McCaffrey now has 1,292 running yards, 1,801 scrimmage yards, and 20 touchdowns overall for the season.

McCaffrey’s amazing season has led to a rising number of endorsements for the MVP. Peyton Manning, the five-time MVP, is among the former NFL greats who support McCaffrey’s campaign.

On Monday Night Football, Peyton Manning joked, “I love how Eli is cutting the MVP of the league off to talk about what hole the runner should hit,” in reference to McCaffrey’s appearance on ESPN’s ManningCast broadcast. Cam Inman of The Mercury News said, “I don’t know what’s more hilarious than that.”

Tom Brady agreed with Manning when he stated that McCaffrey ought to win the MVP during McCaffrey’s appearance on the Let’s Go podcast on SiriusXM Radio, which Brady and Jim Gray hosted.

“He is a dynamic player now, and I think all of what he’s done this year is a lot what he’s done in the past. It’s a different team with some different opportunities and they’ve been really dynamic on offense,” Brady said. “So he is definitely in my mind the MVP favorite and according to his quarterback too, Brock Purdy, who says some amazing things about him.”

Particularly after Tyreek Hill was out and Dak Prescott struggled against the Buffalo Bills, McCaffrey’s case for MVP became stronger.

Naturally, Christian McCaffrey carried on the team-first custom by declaring that he would vote for teammates—such as Trent Williams and Brock Purdy—rather than himself for MVP. Yes, I would vote for Brock to win MVP honors, with Trent coming in second.
