In the second quarter of Sunday, November 21, 2021, Philadelphia Eagles CB Darius Slay (2) intercepts a pass and scores a touchdown at Lincoln Financial Field against the New Orleans Saints. For NJ.com, Lori M. Nichols is with NJ Advance Media.

When the Seattle Seahawks play the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night in a Week 15 match, they might have a little more success with their passing game.

Darius Slay, a cornerback for Philadelphia, will be sidelined following arthroscopic surgery on his knee last week. In the absence of “Big Play Slay,” their best cover player, the Eagles will have to contend with Seahawks receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Slay had been dealing with a knee injury all week. He played the majority of the Eagles’ 33-13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. Slay is a leader on defense and has started all but one game this season.

Slay’s departure is a huge blow to the secondary, which has shown signs of weakness all season. The Eagles have allowed 37 touchdown passes, which is next-to-last in the NFL, and are 29th in the NFL in terms of passing yards allowed (259.9 yards per game).

James Bradberry will start at left cornerback, and the replacement for Slay with be either Eli Ricks, Josh Jobe, Bradley Roby, and Kelee Ringo. Roby, a 10-year veteran, has more experience more than than other three combined, and he could be the choice.

Slay is expected back before the end of the regular season.
