NEW YORK (AP) – The New York Mets paid $100,000 to the Chicago White Sox on Monday to acquire right-hander Yohan Ramirez.
The 28-year-old was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on September 5 after going 1-0 with a 4.23 ERA in 31 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the team. In 38 1/3 innings, he walked 17 and struck out 35.
In 22 games at Triple-A with Indianapolis and Charlotte, Ramirez was 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA.
On December 13, he was designated for assignment in order to free up a spot on the roster following the White Sox’s signing of right-hander Erick Fedde to a $15 million, two-year contract.
In four seasons with the White Sox, Cleveland (2022), Pittsburgh (2022–23), Seattle (2020–22), and Pittsburgh (2022–23), Ramirez is 6-4 with six saves and a 3.99 ERA.
