McCarthy discusses the offensive fireworks of the Cowboys.

After what they did to the New York Giants on Sunday, there’s no more waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to blow up offensively. Their 49-17 triumph is merely the most recent example of their offensive prowess throughout the previous four games, during which they have gone 3-1 and almost 4-0, save for a close defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Although Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb were also quite effective in that game, you can now also include Brandin Cooks in the discussion of the deadly tools that head coach Mike McCarthy, the team’s play-caller in 2023, has at his disposal.

“Every game you come out, you fit the run to the pass,” he said. “But, most importantly, it starts with protection. This was, by far, our best protection performance. I know earlier in the year, we were a little bit up-and-down as to how we wanted to play versus how we did play. I think, this past month, we’re hitting on all cylinders.”

To put it mildly, that is all.

Over the last four games, Prescott has thrown for 13 touchdowns to just two interceptions; Lamb has 617 receiving yards; and the Cowboys offense has produced more than 600 yards of total offense just this past weekend.

Tyron Smith, the starting left tackle, is back for a second week. He once again produced a fantastic performance against the blindside white Terence Steele, who had a good comeback after suffering in the previous several weeks.

Additionally, it made it possible for Rico Dowdle to launch a furious attack that ultimately culminated in a career-best day—one that, when he reflected on how he got here, **means a lot**.

“We’re getting through the run schemes that are able to carry over into the actual pass game, and we’re doing a lot more third down,” said McCarthy. “This was a huge challenge to us with the amount of pressure we were up against yesterday. I think we took a big step in that area. And I do think it’s a product of us hitting our stride a little bit.”

Since the Cowboys have yet to play a flawless game, there are still a few things to work out going forward, but that fact alone ought to alarm the league.

What does it look like when they play flawless football if this is how they play fantastic but flawed football?

McCarthy and the Cowboys plan to discover that.
