Prior to Liverpool’s visit, Tottenham has one fresh injury, and Ange Postecoglou acknowledges that two important players are still “a bit sore” after recent injuries.
This weekend, the only Reds players listed as injured are Conor Bradley, Stefan Bajcetic, and Thiago (hip, calf).
After recovering from a hamstring injury, Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in the gym, giving Jurgen Klopp a strong roster to choose from.
Postecoglou can be considered to be absent, but Tottenham have a new one in winger Brennan Johnson.
Johnson, who joined Bryan Gil (groyne), Rodrigo Bentancur (ACL), Ivan Perisic (ACL), Giovani Lo Celso (quad), and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) on the sidelines following the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend, sustained a hamstring injury.
James Maddison and Heung-min Son are both “a bit sore,” according to Postecoglou, even though they are both scheduled to start against Liverpool.
“From last week, Brennan will miss out – it’s nothing too serious but he won’t be right for this week,” he explained.
“Madders and Sonny trained today, just finished the session and seemed to get through it not too bad.
“We’ll just have to see how they pull up as it’s fair to say they were a bit sore after last week and had a bit of an interrupted week training, so just a matter of seeing how they pull up.”
Given that Son and Maddison contribute the majority of Postecoglou’s team’s goals, Spurs must have both of them start.
Son has scored five goals so far and is second in the Premier League in goals scored only to Erling Haaland (eight), while Maddison has two goals and four assists in seven appearances.
Postecoglou has a relatively easy time choosing his starting lineup if the rest of his team stays healthy.
Probable Tottenham XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Sarr; Kulusevski, Maddison, Solomon; Son
