JUST IN: No.4 Player In America, Five-Star Forward Jordan Scott, Chooses Michigan State Over Michigan and Wisconsin for 2025 Class
The elite recruit, who had narrowed his choices down to Michigan State, in-state rival Michigan, and Big Ten powerhouse Wisconsin, made his decision public on Tuesday via a nationally streamed broadcast, sending waves of excitement across East Lansing.
Scott, a 6-foot-9 athletic marvel from Fairfax, Virginia, is regarded as one of the most complete forwards in recent memory. Known for his explosive athleticism, two-way dominance, and high basketball IQ, he has become a coveted figure in high school basketball circles. His junior season at Paul VI Catholic High School was nothing short of extraordinary — averaging 21.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game while leading his team to a state championship and earning All-American honors.
“I chose Michigan State because of the culture Coach Izzo has built, the way they develop players, and the family atmosphere I felt every time I visited,” Scott said during his announcement. “It just felt like home.”
The commitment is a major win for Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo, who is now assembling what many are calling one of the most dangerous recruiting classes in the country. With Scott now joining four-star point guard Trey Simmons and shooting guard Mike Holloway, Michigan State’s 2025 class is projected to rank within the top five nationally.
“This is a huge day for our program,” said Coach Izzo in a statement released shortly after the announcement. “Jordan is the kind of player that changes the trajectory of a team. He’s tough, selfless, and committed to winning. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Spartan family.”
Scott’s decision comes as a disappointment to both Michigan and Wisconsin, who had each invested considerable time and effort in recruiting the five-star standout. Michigan, in particular, had hoped to secure a marquee in-state victory under head coach Dusty May, who is looking to build his own legacy in Ann Arbor. Wisconsin, led by Greg Gard, had pitched Scott on a system tailored to his versatility and long-term NBA development.
But in the end, it was the Michigan State tradition, Izzo’s legendary player development, and the program’s proven track record of sending wings to the NBA that sealed the deal.
Scott’s commitment not only strengthens Michigan State’s position in the ultra-competitive Big Ten, but also serves as a clear message — the Spartans are reloading and gunning for national titles. With his size, skill, and leadership qualities, Jordan Scott may very well be the face of college basketball in 2025 and a future lottery pick in the NBA.
For Spartan fans, the future just got a lot brighter.
