CONGRATULATIONS: Texas Aggies Stay at No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports College Baseball Poll – SEC Rival Oklahoma Rises to No. 2 While North Carolina, Arkansas and Oregon Chase Closely

With an impressive streak of victories, the Aggies have showcased consistency, power, and resilience—qualities that have defined their campaign this year.

Under head coach Jim Schlossnagle, Texas A&M has crafted one of the most fearsome teams in college baseball. Their blend of explosive offense and lockdown pitching has made them the team to beat. Star slugger Mason DeLeon and ace pitcher Blake Campbell have led the charge, putting up eye-popping stats week after week and proving themselves as top MLB Draft prospects. The Aggies’ balance across the roster and their ability to win both high-scoring and low-scoring games have kept them atop the rankings for five consecutive weeks.

Meanwhile, the SEC continues to flex its muscle as one of the premier conferences in college baseball. The Oklahoma Sooners, long overshadowed by their SEC rivals, have surged to the No. 2 position thanks to a dominant run in conference play. Their recent series sweep of LSU and a hard-fought win over Vanderbilt put the rest of the nation on notice. Sophomore sensation Jalen Brooks has emerged as a key figure in the Sooners’ rise, with his clutch hitting and solid defense at third base. Coach Skip Johnson’s squad now stands as a legitimate threat to challenge Texas A&M for postseason supremacy.

Right behind them, North Carolina maintains its spot in the top five, currently sitting at No. 3. The Tar Heels have benefited from strong pitching depth and timely offense, allowing them to navigate a competitive ACC schedule. Arkansas, another SEC powerhouse, is hot on their heels at No. 4, rebounding from early-season inconsistencies to string together a series of big wins. Their bullpen has been one of the most reliable in the nation, helping them close out tight games.

Oregon rounds out the top five after a statement series win against Arizona State. The Ducks’ dynamic offense and aggressive baserunning have made them one of the most exciting teams to watch. Head coach Mark Wasikowski has his squad firing on all cylinders, and their stock continues to rise with every victory.

As the postseason looms, the top of the USA TODAY poll shows how tightly contested this year’s College World Series chase will be. With multiple SEC teams in the top tier, along with elite programs from the ACC and Pac-12, college baseball fans are in for a thrilling finish. But for now, all eyes remain on the Texas Aggies—who continue to wear the crown as the No. 1 team in the country.

Congratulations to the Aggies and all the teams climbing the ranks. If these standings are any preview, the road to Omaha will be nothing short of epic.
