At MetLife Stadium on Monday night, Giants kicker Randy Bullock’s last-second field goal went through the uprights, but it accomplished more than just handing the Packers a crushing loss.

The 49ers became the first team to secure a spot in the NFL playoffs for 2023 as a result of it. The 49ers are in the playoffs for the third straight year, but head coach Kyle Shanahan made it plain earlier on Monday that the team wants to be the main event and is not just interested in securing a spot.

According to 49ersWebzone.com, Shanahan stated, “I’ll have a reaction when it is the No. 1 spot, if it is, because that’s when the season ends.” “At the moment, it is meaningless. It simply refers to your current location. And if we don’t take care of business this week, I’m sure we won’t be that. Thus, that’s really the only thing on our minds this week; we’ll discuss who we play next.”

With their victory over the Seahawks and the Eagles’ defeat by the Cowboys on Sunday, the 49ers took the top spot. They’ll remain there by winning the regular season, and having Levi’s Stadium host the NFC playoffs would probably put them well-positioned to make Shanahan’s second Super Bowl appearance.
