AHEAD OF TIME?
It is still being suggested that the seasoned striker will join the Major League Soccer in 2024. According to rumors, Gremio would be willing to let him out of his Brazilian contract so that he may enjoy a reunion with Messi in the US. Messi was formerly a teammate of Messi’s at Barcelona.

Suarez has been talking about international issues with a close buddy as they get ready to face off in 2026 World Cup qualification, but he is not disclosing anything on that front. After being selected again for Uruguay, Suarez said to ESPN, “Yes, we were talking to Leo.” He frequently inquired about the national team, so I was pleased to see him again and be called upon. It was a very pleasant experience.
Suarez will be lined up alongside Darwin Nunez and against Messi. The 36-year-old former Liverpool player acknowledges that he is doing everything within his power to assist a current Anfield star in giving his all for his Premier League employers. Suarez went on to say that he is passing the Uruguayan No. 9 shirt to a frontman who is emulating him: “I, as a team-mate, am not surprised because I knew, until last year when he had a bad time in Liverpool I spoke with him, in Liverpool they told me to talk to him. I warned him and told him what English football was. He, with the heart he has, opened up and told me what had happened to him at that moment, we talked about it. I told him that when I leave I want him to take it [the No.9]. That’s why, if you listen to Darwin’s statements, he says it with total sincerity. As a colleague, I’m happy for him; I was talking about it internally, and before the match with Brazil. These are things that we are happy about as teammates, we are different, we are from different generations, and I am happy for the moment he is living in his club and in the national team.”
Next what?
On Thursday night, Argentina will face Uruguay. Messi, who is playing for his 179th cap, will be aiming to score his 107th international goal, while Suarez wants to reach 69 goals in 138 games.
