Despite the Reds experiencing a 2-0 victory over Everton yesterday, Jamie Carragher maintains that Jurgen Klopp must stop using one Liverpool player outside of his usual role.
The Anfield team won thanks to two goals from Mo Salah, however during the game, former Red Carragher took to the X to discuss Trent Alexander-Arnold’s placement.
The Academy graduate has been playing in an inverted role since the latter part of last season, beginning games in his usual right back position but switching to central midfield when his team gets the ball.
Given his incredible passing and shooting skills, there are undoubtedly many reasons why our German tactician uses the Scouser in this position, but we are missing the menace that the England international used to provide down the right side.
Since making his Reds debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the greatest full-backs in the world, therefore it is intriguing that Klopp has decided to change Alexander-Arnold’s position in the lineup.
Maybe the inverted technique should only be used against specific opponents and not in every game.
We certainly look forward to witnessing our No. 66, who Klopp has previously described as “world-class” (via This Is Anfield), pull the strings whether that be from midfield or right back! Recently, he revealed that he’s not sure which position fits him best.
