Prior to their Merseyside derby encounter against Everton, Trent Alexander-Arnold was seen going on a pre-match walk with his Liverpool teammates. The England international was started despite being involved in a vehicle accident on Friday.
The Sun reported that on Friday as the England and Liverpool star was out in 70 mph winds, a 40-foot power pylon toppled onto a car in front of his Range Rover, giving him a significant shock.
In order to escape the high-voltage power unit, the 25-year-old driver had to detour onto a wet rural road close to Knutsford, Cheshire, where he then crashed with a BMW X5.
The electrical pylon, which was wrecked on the road’s bank and could have caused major damage if it had fallen on Alexander-Arnold’s fancy car, was a close call for the footballer.
Despite this, the full-back was spotted on Saturday morning pre-game strolling with his Liverpool teammates. The game was scheduled to start at noon.
He made an impression and played the entire game against Australia last Friday, but was not utilised as a substitute in Tuesday’s 3-1 triumph over Italy.
Alexander-Arnold and the driver of the BMW were fortunate to escape the event unharmed when the pylon, which weighs half a tonne, crashed down on top of the other vehicle at the site.
The England international was reportedly rattled, with a witness commenting that it was remarkable no one had been killed in the shocking disaster in the countryside brought on by the deadly Storm Babet that was sweeping the country.
The story continued by stating that after colliding with the side of the BMW, Alexander-Arnold got out of his Range Rover and checked on the other driver to make sure they were okay.
His £90,000 black Range Rover, which also had a broken headlight and pieces missing from its front-left bumper, was severely damaged by the collision.
Parts of the car were shown to be barely hanging on as a result of the hit, and electrical cables from inside the vehicle’s bonnet were visible through the remains of the shattered bumper.
The front-left wheel of the white BMW, which was sitting on its rim and was said to be missing a headlight, was also noted to have a significant side bodywork break.
The massive pylon’s electrical supply was cut off as police were sent to the area.
Later on Friday, Alexander-Arnold participated in team training with Liverpool.
In a statement released on Friday, Cheshire Police explained the event, saying: “This morning at 10.34am we were alerted to complaints of a road traffic collision involving a black Range Rover and a BMW.
“An electricity pole had fallen into the road, causing the accident.
“Nobody was injured and everything was cleared by 1.05pm. We called the energy company and had the electricity turned off.”
Storm Babet’s effects have wreaked havoc across the nation, and a passenger airliner at Leeds Bradford Airport also skidded off the runway.
