A fascinating transfer rumour concerning Liverpool has started to circulate.

It appears that a deal has been reached between Victor Osimhen and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

According to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, who spoke to Televomero via Area Napoli, this is the case.

Osimhen was apparently being followed by Liverpool during the most recent international break.

The narrative continued to unfold with claims that negotiations had started between the Reds and the Nigerian national team.

And now, this Italian article claims that Liverpool has truly achieved a substantial breakthrough.

I’m referring to Liverpool.

Osimhen and his agent, Roberto Calenda, chose not to sign an extension at the Serie A club due to the interest from Anfield, according to De Maggio.

Then he asserted that Liverpool and the player had come to an arrangement, and that if the Reds wanted to sign him for next season, they would now have to negotiate with Napoli.

“The parties had reached an agreement for the renewal, but then Calenda and Osimhen went back on their word,” said De Maggio.

“What happened? There was the inclusion of another club, from the Premier League. I’m talking about Liverpool.

“There would be frequent contacts, but I just learned something else: there would be agreements already reached.

“Let me clarify: the agreements would be between the Reds and the player, therefore they would not involve Napoli.

“I hope (club president) Laurentiis will be able to keep Victor Osimhen at least until June, but we can’t be sure.”

TBR opinion

This would be fantastic news for Liverpool and their supporters if it were true.

The very best player in the world is Osimhen. We’re discussing potential Ballon d’Or winners here.

According to PF, Inter Milan icon Christian Vieri predicted that Osimhen would rank among the top players in the world last year: “Osimhen is really good, in a year he will be one of the best in the world.”

He has now become stronger than ever, helping Napoli win their first Serie A championship since 1990.

He was described as “the world’s best centre-forward” and a “more complete No. 9” than Erling Haaland in a Daily Mail article dated February.

Clearly, Liverpool has a strong offensive configuration at the moment, thus strengthening their defensive is a more urgent requirement than improving their offence.

The Reds, or really any other great team, would be crazy not to try their luck if a player of Osimhen’s calibre became available.
