Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate starred for France in their final Euro 2024 qualifier to secure a place in the final.
The £36m Reds star was on the winning side as the 2018 World Cup won 2-1 in the Netherlands.
Even though Konate and his defense lost zero late, they still did enough to get past some of their high-profile opponents.
Several French media liked the sight of the Liverpool ace and praised him in post-match reviews.
For example, Footmercato gave Konate a score of 7/10 for their efforts on the night. “After dealing with a muscle injury at the start of the season, Liverpool’s defensive pillar has really bounced back,” they wrote.
– In the central joint, the 24-year-old French generally held his position very well.
“He had a strong duel with Wout Weghorst at the start of the match, which he won easily,” they wrote.
– Returning to the election, he always shows the same calmness in duels, as if nothing could happen to him.
“Although he is caught on the last pass in the Batavia goal and Bergwijn (90th) could have been caught behind him.”
According to Sofascore, Konate recorded two saves, two interceptions and one hit. He also won three aerial battles and one ground battle.
As for the passes, the Anfield ace completed 68 of his 71 passes with 96% accuracy and also provided one key assist.
All in all, it was a solid performance from Konate en route to a 2-1 win over tough opposition as Kylian Mbappe scored both of France’s goals.
The Liverpool star’s efforts helped Les Bleus to their sixth win in the group and send him to Germany next summer.
Portugal and Belgium also confirmed their qualification for the actual tournament on Friday.
