In his response to Liverpool’s draw at Brighton, Jurgen Klopp displayed maturity. The key points from his post-game press conference are available for your review.

Here are the manager’s four most important quotes from the post-game news conference:

“A just outcome”

The statistics indicate a close game with 14 shots each and an eight percent advantage for Liverpool in terms of possession.

Following the game, Klopp acknowledged that it “was intense for both teams” and added that it was “a fair result.”

He did, however, add, “I really think we would have deserved to win if we had scored the third one.”

Even though splitting the points may have been the most equitable result, it always hurts when the Reds are in the lead.

Klopp is “over” the possible dismissal.

After the game, it was obvious that the manager was attempting to maintain composure. When questioned if Pascal Gross should have been fired, he admitted he hadn’t yet viewed the incident replayed.

“I didn’t worry about the red card, but I’ve heard it’s now about the chance to score goals. We can pose a question here if there is a chance to score goals, Klopp continued before posing the query to the audience.

Many people raised their hands to signal that there was a clear chance to score. But Klopp didn’t linger, saying, “I’m over it, I’m too old for this type of stuff.

“We will not change it I heard anymore.”

Roberto De Zerbi has “real support” from Klopp.

After the game, Klopp again praised Brighton’s manager, just as he had done before.

“I have to say I could not repect more what he (De Zerbi) is doing,” Klopp began.

“Honestly, I’m a real supporter of it. I’m a football lover and the impact he has on football should not be underestimated.

“In the moment when he got a bit outraged, I used my age to calm him down.

“If I’m in the moment like this (outrage), there’s a moment when the moment of never-coming-back appears. I tried to calm him down, I’m not sure if he needed it or not.”

Surprised by the lead at the break?

Although Brighton had the best of the first half, Mo Salah’s two goals eventually prevented them from leading at the halftime.

When asked if he was surprised by the outcome, the manager responded, “I know how it looked, and I acknowledge that 100% there were some things I didn’t like.

“But, you could hear in the stadium how often we we were really close to winning the ball. That’s the risk to take…

“We kept going and we deserved the resilience. No I was not surprised, to be honest. I know some moments they had the upper hand.”
