JUST IN: Ohio State football QB commit Brady Edmunds dropped one comment

Brady Edmunds has been one of the cornerstones of Ohio State’s 2027 recruiting class since committing in late 2024, but his latest comments have reignited speculation about whether he will ultimately sign with the Buckeyes. The California quarterback has been heavily pursued by UCLA, and after taking an official visit to Westwood, he admitted that his recruitment remains far from settled despite his lengthy commitment to Ohio State.

The statement drawing the most attention came when Edmunds said, “I just want to make sure we’re on the same page with everything… so I can make the best decision at the end of the day.” That comment suggested he is still evaluating his future and wants clarity on Ohio State’s quarterback plans before making a final commitment. While he stressed that communication with the coaching staff has been good, his willingness to publicly discuss other options has naturally fueled speculation.

Edmunds also acknowledged that UCLA has made a strong impression on both him and his family. The Huntington Beach native said the Bruins exceeded expectations during his visit, making the hometown program a legitimate contender. With UCLA pushing hard and offering the opportunity to stay close to home, the recruiting battle appears much tighter than many Buckeye fans expected just a few months ago.

Despite the uncertainty, Edmunds made it clear that leaving Ohio State would not be an easy decision. He noted that he has been committed for more than 18 months and described the Buckeyes as a program that means a great deal to him and his family, especially given his grandfather’s Ohio roots. Those comments indicate that Ohio State still holds a significant emotional advantage, even as UCLA continues its pursuit.

Another factor to watch is Ohio State’s quarterback recruiting strategy. Edmunds has expressed a desire to fully understand the Buckeyes’ plans at the position and ensure both sides share the same vision moving forward. Although he has indicated he is comfortable competing with another quarterback in the class, he wants transparency regarding his future role in Columbus before making a final decision.

For now, Ohio State remains in a strong position, but the recruitment is no longer viewed as a lock. Edmunds’ latest remarks have left the door open for a potential flip to UCLA, making the coming weeks critical for Ryan Day and his staff. Until he publicly reaffirms his commitment or announces a final decision, questions surrounding the Buckeyes’ quarterback of the future are likely to persist.
