Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt has officially made six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick the No. 1 target to become the Red Raiders’ next offensive coordinator, sources confirmed Wednesday night.

Following a thorough evaluation of the program’s offensive direction under current coordinator Mack Leftwich, Hocutt and head coach Joey McGuire have decided to pursue the most decorated defensive mind in football history to bring a new identity to Jones AT&T Stadium.
“Bill Belichick represents the ultimate standard of excellence,” a high-ranking Texas Tech official told reporters off the record. “Kirby believes his football IQ, attention to detail, and championship pedigree can transform our offense into a powerhouse that dominates the Big 12 and beyond.”
Among the four finalists reportedly under consideration:
1. Bill Belichick – The clear frontrunner
2. A sitting Power Four offensive coordinator
3. A rising Group of 5 head coach
4. A former NFL coordinator with Texas ties
Belichick, who took the head coaching job at North Carolina last December, has reportedly grown frustrated with the college game’s recruiting and transfer portal demands. Sources say Texas Tech is prepared to offer full control of the offense, a massive NIL war chest, and a salary that would shatter all coordinator records, potentially exceeding $4 million per year.
Red Raider Nation is already buzzing. Wreck ’Em flags are flying higher than ever at the thought of the Hoodie pacing the sidelines in double black and scarlet.
